Garrett has had a fairly normal NICU day. Since being extubated, they have tried feeding into his stomach. That didn’t go so well. His stomach wasn’t sure what to do with it. So they tried today to move his feeding tube farther down, which should help the feeding process along. That didn’t go so well either. So tomorrow they will take him to radiology to try to move the feeding tube down to the point they would like it.
So the rest of today Garrett gets a break from being poked on. He is sleeping peacefully with no tubes down his throat……..aaaaahhhhhhh………so nice. He also is getting some good sleep today. The past 2 days he has not been sleeping well and crabby.
So now the feeding journey starts. We already are on a rocky road with it since: 1. He has not been fed into his stomach and 2. His stomach lived in his chest most his life; his stomach has no idea what it is supposed to be doing. I have heard from many CDH parents this is a LONG ROAD. I have no doubt it will be. CDH is a long road in general!
I am happy he is resting more comforably. Garrett has done amazing so far; hoping the feeding problem will take forward steps soon also. Thanks for the updates.
